I’ve known Stephanie since I was in middle school. She was a counselor at my after school camp, and we became quick friends with the help our shared love of *NSYNC (she took me to my first concert!). She also has the coolest handwriting I’ve ever seen!
We’ve been talking and planning her maternity session for some time now, and getting crazy excited doing so!! It was so much fun! She sent me vision boards for outfits, I arranged florals, and we secured a location, and the big day was EPIC.
Dustin and I arrived at the first location early to scope out exact spots, and right behind the breathtaking log covered with green vines, was a tent. I mean,RIGHT.BEHIND.IT. We approached it and could hear someone inside, so we talked about options – could we Photoshop it out? Try another location? Either way, we didn’t feel it was safe or comfortable for our clients/friends. I was bummed – so, I called the local, non-emergency police number and they were on the scene immediately! Turns out it was a couple of teenagers (sorry guys!), who packed up just in time for our session. Glad we did, because we spent the whole time shooting in front of the incredible tree!
Anyway, Stephanie’s super cute family will be a family of four in a couple months! They’re expecting a sweet baby girl, and what better way to commemorate this special time than with family photos.

One thing I’ve learned since going full-time with photography, is to never put your camera away until you’re in the car ready to go home. We walked up the beach path back to the cars, and the guys totally thought we were done with the shoot so they started horsing around. Just look at this sweet shot of Asher and his dad having a blast! Sure, there are cars in the back, and there’s a lens flare, but I love how spontaneous it is, and I’m SO glad I kept my camera on. This is the personality and emotion I hope to capture at every shoot!
