When I started Pine & Sea, it was a name that I created for my handlettering business. I decided to keep the same name for my photography business, thinking that one day maybe my two world’s would collide.
Last year was a year of definition — Who am I as a business? Who am I as a photographer? What do I want to photograph? How can I best serve my clients? What is my mission? How do I set myself apart? The list goes on. While some of those questions are still being answered, I finally figured out the answer to “What do I want to photograph?” Late last year, I realized I have a passion that runs real deep for newly engaged couples or couples crazy in love, and families with incredible little humans. I wanted to shift my business to solely focus on what inspired me – families, engagements, and weddings.
My sweet, graphic designer husband created my first logo, but by the end of 2016, it fit more for my Etsy business and less for my work as a photographer. It’s still cute though!
I’m not the same person I was nine months ago, and neither is my business, which are both good things. The name (another story) still ties back to the *why* I started this journey. However, the actual visual representation of it, does not. And with a heavier focus on weddings and a desire to have my logo match my work and style, my logo needed a facelift. I wanted something clean, warm, with a hint of playfulness. I still loved including the tree and anchor in the design, but wanted to focus on the name and type of work. I initially asked my hubby to redesign, but this business is so close to my heart and I already had an idea of what I wanted, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I toyed around with a couple ideas…
And with some decision-making help from my friend and fellow photographer, Jessica Lynn, I ended up tweaking the second one. With that, I’m excited to announce my NEW logo…
I also went the extra mile to build a style guide for myself because I’m a nerd.
And if you don’t know me, I’m really obsessed with paper products, so of course this new change required new business cards…
I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m excited to see where it takes me and what other changes lie ahead! Thank you for continuing to follow along with my journey!!
