Kianna + Jonathan // San Mateo Wedding

Jul 24, 2018

Friends!  Get ready for a long blog today!  I am so excited to share this Mission Santa Clara de Asís and Peninsula Golf & Country Club wedding with you!

This one is super special and I’ll tell you why.  First off, I’ve known Kianna since high school.  She was and is an incredible dancer (wait till you see the reception photos!), but I specifically remember her being amazing at ballet.  She’s also stunningly beautiful, hilarious and witty, and she married her perfect match, Jonathan, one month ago!  Kianna and Jonathan were married on June 23, 2018, so if you do the math on my due date (just six days later on June 29th), you know that I couldn’t be there 😔.  When I found out that we were expecting, my heart sank because I never want to let anyone down, let alone someone I’ve known for years (today is actually our Facebook Friendversary celebrating 12 years haha!).  Enter Jessica Mendoza, without batting an eye, she said she’d photograph Kianna and Jonathan’s wedding, while I edited the images.  If that wasn’t relief enough, we flew Lily Tapia up to work as Jess’s second shooter.  Kianna, being the super cool lady she is, was totally into it!  So it was a huge team effort, and to have that trust from a couple is invaluable, and I’m so honored (Seriously. Thank you, Kianna and Jonathan!).

Jonathan and Kianna met during their senior year at UC Santa Barbara. They now live in the Bay Area, where he grew up and went to law school at Santa Clara University, so the venues they chose have a close connection to his life. I did have the opportunity to work with them during their engagement session, and I had so much fun with them!! I think I kept them out as long as I could before their flight back home, and I wish I had more time with them because they kept me laughing the whole time. Look how sweet they are…

Jess and Lily did such an incredible job documenting the day, and even though I wasn’t there, I knew exactly how the day flowed, I could experience the big and little moments, and I could feel the love throughout the day.  That’s when you know photos have done their job – when you can feel the moments that were captured!  It was so fun to edit these images!

Kianna and Jonathan, thank you for your trust and allowing all of us to be part of your celebration. I’m so excited for you to see a few of my many favorites!

Huge thanks to Jessica and Lily for lending your creative genius and talent to me for the weekend!!

Jonathan and his mom danced to a special recording of “The Way You Look Tonight”.  It was recorded by his mom’s father, who was a big singer, and sadly passed away a few years ago.  I hear he would’ve absolutely been singing at the wedding if he were alive today.  Love personal touches like these!

Check out their highlight film from the brilliant team at The Goodfolk Film Co!

Special thanks to the talented team of vendors:
